Market Square Farmers Market
May 14 - October 29, 2015
Interested in being a vendor at the Market Square Farmers Market? Our full-time vendor application period has ended but we are always seeking part-time vendors.
Downtown’s showcase Farmers Market has returned to Market Square for 2015! Now in its 11th season, the popular Market Square Farmers Market is a great opportunity for local vendors to promote their goods while providing the Downtown community with a unique and convenient shopping experience. Each Thursday, Downtown’s biggest Farmers Market attracts 7,000-10,000 office workers, residents and visitors to Market Square to enjoy local produce, gourmet treats and the many diverse restaurants and shops surrounding the Square. This season, we’re bringing the region’s cream of the crop to the heart of the City. As many as 30 weekly vendors will be showcased in the significantly expanded Market, along with free afternoon concerts. Produced by the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP), the Market Square Farmers Market runs each Thursday through October 29, 2015, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Market-goers can expect to choose from a variety of goods such as: breads; banana loaf cakes; crunchy biscotti; fresh-cut flowers; live herb plants and teas; homemade, all-natural vegetarian dog treats; fresh vegetables and fruits; naturally dry-aged beef; organic raw milk and cheese; beeswax candles; honey; Angora goat yarn, and more.
The September 3 Market Square Farmers Market is sponsored by:
Just Harvest will be back conducting their Fresh Access program every week of the 2015 Farmers Market season. This program enables shoppers to use their credit/debit cards and food stamps via electronic benefit transfer (EBT) to purchase a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, meat and dairy products. SNAP users can swipe their cards and receive tokens that are accepted by many of our vendors. Users of the token kiosk for credit and debit card purchases will be asked to contribute $1 per transaction to defray costs of the program. Beginning this season, for every $5 a shopper spends using food stamps, they'll receive an additional $2 to spend on fruits and veggies.
New to the Market this year is the PDP Small Business Spotlight program designed to support small retailers in Downtown Pittsburgh. Most weeks at the Market, a featured retailer will be provided the opportunity to showcase their offerings to promote engagement with the Market’s more than 5,000 weekly visitors. Among the Downtown businesses slated to participate are Boutique la Passerelle, Amazing Books, Boutique 208, Emporio Tobacco, and Wallace Floral. More information on the program can be found here.
Each Thursday at 11:30 a.m., the Square will be rockin’ with live acoustic performances by some of Pittsburgh's top talent! A schedule of performances will be updated regularly so check back often!
Shake-up your Thursdays and enjoy a little lunch, shopping and music in one of Downtown’s hottest places to be – Market Square!
