Tuesdays in Market Square
KidsPlay @ Market Square
June 14 - August 30, 2016
10:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Enliven and enrich your child’s summer with KidsPlay at Market Square. This summer, children and their families/caregivers can enjoy fun and educational programs and activities complete with crafts, stories, and special guests. Children can plant their own tree one week, see how cartoons come to life the next, dance with the symphony and ballet, and even touch a real fire truck, all in Downtown’s historic Market Square. The free program series produced by the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership introduces children to a new and exciting learning experience in one of Downtown's most popular destinations.
*Programs are geared toward pre-school aged children and welcome families, caregivers, schools, day cares and camps.

Reading Room @ Market Square
11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Downtown workers, residents and visitors can satisfy their literary appetites in the midst of the City’s lunchtime bustle when Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s mobile Reading Room returns to open a new chapter of reading, learning and fun in Market Square.
Release your inner bookworm and book-it to the Reading Room @ Market Square. After KidsPlay, walk a few short steps to the Library’s Reading Room and pick up some great reads for a bargain. Each book you buy supports the Carnegie Library – and for only $1 or $2 you can start your own personal library!
Information about the 2016 Reading Room will be coming shortly.
Special Reading Room Programming
Bring your e-reader or MP3 player and we’ll show you how to use it with the Library’s free downloadable eBooks, music downloads, streaming movies, e-Magazines and audiobooks. Or, try out one of our gadgets! Again this year, the Library will be presenting one lucky visitor with a free iPad mini! Be sure to ask us ask us how you can be eligible to win!
If you're cleaning out your book case, don't toss those old books— just drop them off at the Carnegie Library Downtown branch at 612 Smithfield Street. Next time you stop by the Reading Room you may see your neighbor leafing through one of your gently used reads!
