KIDSPLAY RETURNS TO MARKET SQUARE WITH FREE SUMMER ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN EVERY TUESDAY MORNING

- KIDSPLAY IS AGAIN FOLLOWED BY THE POPULAR READING ROOM PROGRAM WHERE PEOPLE CAN PURCHASE BOOKS FOR LESS THAN THE PRICE OF A CUP OF COFFEE
Downtown Pittsburgh – The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership will once again partner with the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh – Downtown & Business Branch to bring KidsPlay to Market Square every Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. beginning June 14 through August 30th. KidsPlay offers free happenings each week, often including visits by local personalities and activities presented by local performing arts groups and non-profit organizations.
New for 2016, Grub-Up Pittsburgh will be providing free lunches to all children in attendance. Also new for this year, every week will include a fitness component encouraging children to move more and inspiring health habits. In addition, activity stations include a craft area presented by PA Cyber and a variety of other activities presented by other partners. Please see the complete list below.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer summer KidsPlay programming designed specifically for children and families in the heart of Downtown,” said Jeremy Waldrup, President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership. “The new healthy lifestyle additions for kids complements PDP’s other healthy lifestyle programming in Downtown, such as our highly popular Yoga in the Square every Sunday, and is a great addition to the weekly festivities.”

June 21 - Playful Pittsburgh Collaborative, Mr. McFeely of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Let's Move Pittsburgh, and the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh
June 28 - Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Kids Yoga with ivivva, and the Office of Public Art
July 5 - Sarah Heinz House Advanced Robotics Program, Playful Pittsburgh Collaborative, and Let's Move Pittsburgh
July 12 - The Saturday Light Brigade Radio, Find Some Flow, and Citiparks Roving Art Cart
July 19 - Kids Plus Pediatrics, Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, and Tree Pittsburgh
July 26 - Santa in the Square, Citiparks Roving Art Cart, and Pittsburgh Music Academy
August 2 - Three Rivers Storytelling Festival and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre
August 9 - Animal Friends, Let's Move Pittsburgh, and Citiparks Roving Art Cart
August 16 - Find Some Flow and Children's Theater Festival
August 23 - Penguin Encounter with the National Aviary, The Wheel Mill, and Children's Museum of Pittsburgh

Following KidsPlay each week, release your inner bookworm and book-it to the Reading Room @ Market Square, where Downtown workers, residents and visitors can pick up some great reads for the bargain prices of only $1 or $2. This popular program of The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh – Downtown & Business Branch also encourages users to bring their e-readers so users can take advantage of the library’s free downloadable eBooks, music downloads, streaming movies, e-Magazines and audiobooks.
