Your Guide to Labor Day 2021 in Downtown

Labor Day is just around the corner! We put together a guide to ensure you don’t let that extra day in the long weekend go to waste. Gather family and friends to celebrate summer’s last big weekend with sporting events, live music, food festivals, and much more in the neighborhood.

Soul Food Fest | Market Square | September 2 – 5

The Pittsburgh Soul Food Fest, presented by Stop the Violence Pittsburgh, is a free outdoor celebration of Black-owned small businesses highlighting food vendors from Western Pennsylvania. Find live music, vendors, speakers, a kid’s fun zone, and more daily from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. in Market Square.

Allegheny Overlook | Open daily through September 12

Relax on the riverfront at the AO. Enjoy river views alongside live music, picnic tables, rocking chairs, basketball hoops, games, a children’s activity area, and so much more!

All weekend long, look for free performances from Shelley Duff, Byron Nash, Joziah Council, Jemiriye, and many more. Find good food and delicious brews from Brew Gentlemen and Blue Sparrow.

Plus, look forward to a special edition of Yoga in the Square followed by a special Knock About Coffee Truck pop-up on Sunday, September 5.

Neon Nights | Howl at the Moon | September 3 – 4 

Celebrate the long weekend at Howl at the Moon’s Neon Nights parties. Both Friday and Saturday night will be full of live music, drink specials, dancing and so much more! Dress in all neon for free admission to the party!

Heinz Field Kickoff & Rib Festival | Heinz Field | September 2 – 6

Heinz Field is hosting their annual Kickoff and Rib Festival, presented by Miller Lite, to ring in the new football season! Come hungry to see national rib vendors along with games and free concerts featuring The Sun King Warriors and The Clarks.

Pitt Panthers vs. UMASS | Heinz Field | September 4

Steelers Run & Walk | North Shore | September 5

Kickoff the 2021 football season with the Steelers Run and Walk, and Kids Fun Run presented by Gatorade! Participate in the race and show your steelers pride in person, or virtually. All participants receive a performance t-shirt, a finisher medal, and a swag bag.

Lady A | Stage AE | September 5

Keep the party going and see the What A Song Can Do Tour 2021 featuring Lady A and Carly Pearce Sunday night at Stage AE. Doors open for the outdoor show at 6 p.m. with performances starting at 7 p.m.

If you are looking for something fun and unique to do with the family, have a great BBQ dinner while enjoying live music, and the beautiful sights of the Three Rivers!

This weekend cruise features the fabulous sunset dinner buffet, a DJ, and the beautiful sights as the sun sets over the river.
