Out and About: Town Place Fitness

Friday, November 1, 2019

As a Downtown employee, I understand the struggle to maintain motivation and power through the rush-hour trek to get to a gym outside of the city, but fortunately, I have come across a great local spot that meets all of my fitness needs at Town Place Fitness.

While searching for a new location to exercise my love for fitness, Town Place Fitness (TPF), located where the former Gold’s Gym was, caught my attention. The two-story (three if you count the rooftop level) fitness complex has recently renovated their spacious upstairs exercise area with the addition of new machines and cardio equipment – they have every style of cardio machine under the sun which makes it easy to mix up your routine and find new ways to feel the burn.

Downstairs is where you’ll find the diverse assortment of free weights and more cable machines. The first floor is scheduled for an upcoming renovation to match the beautiful hardwood floors and modern finish of the upstairs but is still open and fully functional for a great workout. To top off the great spread of equipment, there is also an awesome selection of classes, personal trainers, tanning beds, and complimentary parking in the next-door garage.

All of this brings me to my favorite part about what sets TPF apart from other gyms – the atmosphere of the rooftop sports court. Located above the city, the open-air sports court is equipped for rooftop basketball and also serves as a site for group exercise classes like Zumba and Yoga. This quickly became one of my new favorite yoga spots in the ‘burgh (after Yoga in the Square, of course). The summer breeze and sunset-illuminated view of the cityscape set the perfect scene to tone those muscles.

Town Place Fitness has something for every fitness fanatic, from yogis to cyclists, endurance enthusiasts to bodybuilders. Check it out with a free trial!
