Illumination Ovation Lights Up the Night in Support of Pittsburgh’s Essential Workers

Monday, April 6, 2020

On Tuesday, April 7 and Tuesday, April 14, Pittsburghers will be coming together (while staying apart) in a collective celebration of Pittsburgh’s essential workers.

At 8:00 p.m. on both nights, those interested are encouraged to applaud from their balconies, porches, and yards for the doctors, nurses, first responders, grocery store workers, and more working to keep the city safe.

Additionally, buildings in Downtown and in surrounding neighborhoods will light up the night in yellow and gold, including Fifth Avenue Place, the Gulf Tower, the Koppers Building, Piatt Place, PPG Paints Arena, the U.S. Steel Tower, and more.

The event is being organized by a group of volunteers from around the area, including Martin Potoczny, Evelyn Castillo, Jena-Anne Sabom, Kit Mueller, Ed Hyp, Jeremy Brinling, Ben Petchel, Bob Steineck, and more.
