Downtown is bustling with free activities this weekend that you won’t want to miss, from celebrating Earth Day and the new installation for Market Square Public Art to the August Wilson Community Day.

Earth Day Celebrations

Celebrate Earth Day the Pittsburgh way with free music, a world market with a mix of local vendors, and more in Market Square. Plus, enjoy a collection of food trucks on Smithfield Street, right outside of PG&H

Market Square Public Art

This year’s Market Square Public Art installation is entitled Streaming Space. Designed by artists Alisha B. Wormsley and Ricardo Iamuuri Robinson, the installation will be on display until May 12. Read more about the work. 

SATURDAY, APRIL 20

Enjoy a live performance featuring Lisa E. Harris (Li Harris) from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Harris is an interdisciplinary artist, performer, and composer. She was classically trained at the Manhattan School of Music in voice and opera. Harris’ work focuses on the energetic relationships between body, land, spirit, and place.

August Wilson Community Day

SATURDAY, APRIL 20

The August Wilson African American Cultural Center (AWAACC) hosts its celebrated AWCommunity Day, a free event which aims to provide a fun and educational experience centered on the African American existence and the late playwright August Wilson. This family-friendly day features local vendors, artisans, performers and community building at August Wilson Cultural Center.
