Did you know that Pittsburgh hosts one of the oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day in the country? With over 22,000 participants, you’ll also see floats, presentations, and other groups representing Irish heritage in Pittsburgh. The parade route is similar to previous years, beginning at Liberty Avenue and 11th Street before traveling down Grant Street and finishing at the intersection of the Boulevard of the Allies and Stanwix Street.
From 10:00 a.m. through 1:45 p.m., enjoy live music, Irish Dancers, bagpipes, and family-friendly entertainment. NOTE: There will be no Irish Fair in the Square activities this year after 2:00 p.m.
Also, don’t miss Shamrock’d and Clover Bar, two pop up bars where you can check out a little green beer, grab the perfect selfie, and enjoy music right in Market Square!
St. Patrick’s Day at Revel is back! Starting at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, “Kegs + Eggs” will kick-off the festivities, followed by an all-day celebration with live DJ music, drink specials, and an Irish specialty menu through 3:00 p.m.
From 11:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m., stop by Fifth Avenue Place for an afternoon of free family fun. Face painting, violin music, and crafts with the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh will be available.
Stop by the Downtown & Business Branch after the parade for free St. Patrick’s Day crafts, activities, and music for kids and families.
From 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., join City Works for a breakfast buffet, green beer, and more at their St. Patrick’s Day party.
From 11:00 a.m. through 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, stop by Olive or Twist for an all-day celebration featuring live music, food, drinks, and dancing.
There will be various free parking options for coming into town, including a free lot on Second Avenue in Downtown, along with free parking at four garages in the South Side Works. Also, a free shuttle will be looping between the Second Avenue lot, the First Avenue T station, and the South Side Works.
Worried about parking? While street parking will be restricted, use ParkPGH.org for real-time status of the garages before you arrive, or utilize the Port Authority’s Free Fare Zone to take the light rail system from various North Shore parking options. Additionally, stay alert to street closures which will be announced by the Pittsburgh Police closer to the parade date.
