20 Businesses That Opened Downtown in 2021

In 2021, Downtown saw more than a dozen new businesses open up across the Golden Triangle, including retailers, restaurants, coffee shops, and more. Catch up on what you might have missed below to check out in the new year.

Adda Coffee & Tea House
225 Fifth Avenue

Tucked away in between PNC and Larrimor’s on Fifth Avenue, this small coffee spot is Adda’s first location in Downtown featuring an outdoor plaza to enjoy their signature coffee and teas. Look for a full-sized Adda Bazaar to open on Penn Avenue later this year.

Con Alma
613 Penn Avenue

The popular East End restaurant and jazz bar opened their second location across from Heinz Hall this past summer. Decadently decorated and featuring their signature food and cocktail menu, the location brings a new destination for live jazz to the Golden Triangle with near-daily performances.

CrossBody Dance + Movement
422 Wood Street

Based in the historic Wood Street corridor, CrossBody Dance + Movement brings regular Latin dance classes and training to Downtown. Enjoy private instruction, group classes, and special events with their world-class instructors. Looking for a fun way to spend a Friday evening? Join them for Salsa Fridays featuring a live DJ, an introductory class, and dancing until 1 a.m.

De Fer Coffee & Tea
435 Market Street (inside Market St. Grocery)

With locations in the Strip and the Highline, you can now find De Fer in Market Square within Market St. Grocery serving their house-roasted coffees, specialty teas, and more.

Ensemble on Fifth
230 Fifth Avenue

Shop from more than two-dozen local and regional small businesses all in one location at Ensemble on Fifth. Featuring a mix of retailers offering apparel, shoes, beauty products, accessories, home goods, art, and more, the new retail collaborative opened just before the holiday season in 2021.

There’s a new destination for home goods, gifts, and more: environs, located in Market Square right across from Market St. Grocery and PG&H, highlights high-quality goods from makers and vendors from around the country.

Five Iron Golf
2 PPG Place

Fore! You can now get your golf on in the heart of Downtown right off of Market Square. Five Iron Golf features 11 high-tech golf simulators, lessons with golf pros, games, and a comprehensive bar and kitchen menu.

208 6th Street

One of the most highly-anticipated openings of the year, gi-jin finally debuted last spring along 6th Street with an inventive menu focused on sushi, hand-rolls, and gin. Reservations can book up well in advance, so keep an eye on their social media for last-minute openings.

Pure Barre
158 8th Street

Looking for a new way to work out? Pure Barre’s new Downtown studio opened in the beautiful Eighth & Penn building and features four group class formats designed to deliver a total–body workout. Also at the location, shop the designer athleisure boutique.

Slider Vibes
22 Market Square

Sliders? Check. Shots? Check. A fun new destination for lunch, dinner, and happy hour in Market Square? Check. Slider Vibes features creative slider variations, delicious milkshakes, and creative (and very Instagrammable) shots for a fun time out with friends.

Stella & Shay Beauty Bar
23 Market Square

Located above Nicholas Coffee, Stella & Shay Beauty Bar is a cutting-edge hair and nail salon studio complete with spa services in their studio overlooking Market Square.

Sultan Doner Gyro
133 6th Street

Located on 6th Street, Sultan Doner Gyro features high-quality foods and friendly service, including gyros, kebabs, wraps, pasta, and more.

Sushi Kim 2
110 Smithfield Street

After being originally located in the Strip District, Sushi Kim 2 features a traditional sushi bar and Korean menu on their second-floor location on Smithfield Street. Look for their lunch specials Tuesdays through Fridays from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

The Eagle

The Market Exchange
24 Market Square

The Rebel Room
