The Liberty Mile

What’s short, fast and fun for the whole family? The Liberty Mile! Pittsburgh’s favorite one-mile timed street race is taking place in Downtown Pittsburgh on July 28. The start line is located on Penn Avenue between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Street in the heart of the Cultural District and finishes on Liberty Avenue near Triangle Park.  Starting at 7:00 p.m., race heats will happen every throughout the course of the hour until 8:00 p.m. From pros to average Joes, this race is for everyone and will be a fun and active evening!

Never ran the Liberty Mile before? Then, the Recreational “One for Fun” mile is for you. Participants ages 5 – 76 will have a maximum of 20 minutes to run the course. If you’re a seasoned runner, then the more competitive heats will give you the chance to run your fastest time on the USA Track and Field record-standard certified course.The course start and finish lines are only a block a part making it perfect for spectator viewing. After you cross the finish line, celebrate with the many perksoffered to participants, including a short-sleeve finisher shirt, goody bag, and post-race food! There’s even a post-race party and free post-race beer at participating Downtown restaurants. Plus, you’ll be able to check your time with Chip-time with online tracking  with instant online results. So, lace up those running shoes and get ready for a one-of-a-kind race!
