Out and About: Miracle Pop Up Bar

Monday, December 11, 2017

When I found out the pop up bar Miracle would be returning to Downtown for the holiday season, my excitement was at a level reminiscent of a kid on Christmas morning.

So last week, after checking out a preliminary round of Peoples Gas Holiday Market™ Karaoke, I met a few friends at Miracle on Market for a drink. The bar, located in the Original Oyster House just off Market Square, is the perfect spot to warm up with a boozy beverage after doing some shopping at the Holiday Market. I ordered a Bad Santa: mulled red wine, tawny port, orange liqueur, yummy spices, and golden raisins served in a Santa mug. To put it simply, it tasted how cozy feels.

But the goodness doesn’t stop there; the atmosphere of Miracle is at least half the fun. As owner Spencer Warren puts it, it’s like “Christmas threw up in there.” The walls and ceilings are completely covered in wrapping paper, bows, lights, wreaths, tinsel, Santa hats, trees, snowmen, and stockings. There are enough decorations to liberally trim a house or two but all packed into one bar. And of course the bartenders are decked out in Christmas gear and the speakers blast all the holiday music classics.

You will absolutely want to put this on your list to check out before it closes on New Year’s Eve. Miracle is open every day – even Christmas Eve and Christmas Day – from 4:00 p.m. – midnight. And while you’re out, be sure to visit all the other incredible pop ups we have Downtown this season.
