As summer begins to wind down, Downtown Pittsburgh is gearing up to bid the season farewell with an exciting array of events and activities to celebrate this Labor Day weekend.
The heart of the city is set to come alive with an array festivities, from live performances that will get your toes tapping, to fan-filled arenas celebrating the start of an exciting season of college football, and delectable culinary experiences that will tantalize your taste buds. There’s something for everyone this Labor Day weekend in Downtown Pittsburgh.

August 30 – September 4: Throughout the weekend, indulge in delectable ribs and BBQ crafted by acclaimed food vendors, relish in complimentary performances by The Clarks, The CommonHeart, and Billy Price, witness a fresh production by Squonk Opera, catch the exciting Pitt game against the Wofford Terriers, delight in games and rides for the youngsters, and so much more!
September 1 – 3: Celebrate Pittsburgh’s culinary legacy and thriving Black food businesses since 1795. The Soul Food Fest is a tribute to the city’s rich history. Set in downtown’s dynamic Market Square and spanning Third and Fourth Avenue, the festival invites you to savor mouthwatering dishes from diverse vendors across Western Pennsylvania. From an intense BBQ competition to enlightening speakers, local and national entertainment, and family-friendly activities, this event promises a delightful immersion into Pittsburgh’s cultural and culinary tapestry.
September 2: Be part of the excitement as the University of Pittsburgh Panthers face off against the Wofford College Terriers. The kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and can be viewed on the ACC Network, with live coverage also available on 93.7 The Fan radio.
September 4: in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh, come together with the Allegheny-Fayette Central Labor Council for an extraordinary event – one of the nation’s most substantial and time-honored Labor Day parades! Prepare to witness prominent guests from various corners of the country as they commemorate the rich legacy of organized labor within our region.
The parade will march Downtown from Centre Avenue (near Washington Place) over to Grant Street and then on down the Boulevard of the Allies to Stanwix Street starting at 10 a.m. Monday.
September 4: At Acrisure Stadium, gear up for the 2023 football season with the revival of the Steelers Run & Walk! The action kicks off bright and early at 8 a.m. Every participant will be rewarded with a t-shirt, a finisher medal, a delightful goodie bag, and the exciting opportunity to secure autographed rewards and tickets for the home opener game.
