Sound Series: Tara Clerkin Trio with special guest Ricki Weidenhof

We welcome the Bristol-based Tara Clerkin Trio, on a tour supporting their 2023 EP, On the Turning Ground, released on the U.K. record label, World of Echo. Since Clerkin formed the experimental trio with Patrick Benjamin and Sunny-Joe Paradisos in 2020, they have been cultivating their unique hybrid aesthetic that combines elements of folk, dub, and psychedelia, as part of Bristol’s underground music scene. In a review in The Wire, the band is described sonically as, “Drifting from dubby minimalism to smudged acid jazz, Tara’s stark and tuneful voice acts as the vehicle for her concise poetic lyricism. The group coalesce disparate influences into a cohesive sound, reflecting a romantic view of a familiar world.” They visit the intimate Warhol theater just after their appearance at the acclaimed Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee. Pittsburgh-based cellist, Ricki Weidenhof, opens the evening.
