This program will explore music from Chile, Argentina and southern Mexico, featuring “the voices of the unheard”- folk styles not often performed in North America; the program will include zambas, carnavalitos, cuecas and valses, and the chilena from Oaxaca, based on a Chilean rhythm. These songs will feature poetry and lyrics by prominent 20th century South American and Mexican songwriters who were inspired by the life of the “unheard” people who live and work the fields of foreign and desolate lands.
