Visitors can be comfortable engaging in any movement or vocalizations that are part of their self-expression. Lighting and sound effects throughout the museum are reduced/adjusted for sensory-friendly events.
- Dive into the minds of the artists and computer scientists who help bring Pixar’s award-winning films to the big screen. Go behind the scenes with The Science Behind Pixar exhibition as you replicate Pixar magic through more than 50 interactive and hands-on displays.
- Strike a pose with life size re-creations of Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, Mike and Sulley from Monsters University, Dory from Finding Nemo, Edna Mode from The Incredibles, and WALL•E from WALL•E.
- Enjoy a unique and relaxed-format “free-flow” stargazing session in Buhl Planetarium. Shows will be adjusted for light and sound, and the theater doors will remain open. (approximately 45 minutes)
- Engage with animal artifacts and enjoy accessible demonstrations on ecology and conservation presented by our Animal Habitats Department.
- Take your time exploring Carnegie Science Center’s many exciting exhibits, such as Miniature Railroad and Village®, Mars: The Next Giant Leap®, BodyWorks, Buhl Planetarium, SpacePlace, and H2Oh! – all without crowds.
A Quiet Room, sensory backpacks, noise-cancelling headphones, and assistive/adaptive devices are available upon request and free of charge. Electric Scooters available to rent for $25.
