Exploring the Art of Stage Props

This workshop covers theater industry topics including the definition of a prop, creating a prop list, acquiring props for a show, developing relationships with other members of the production team, surviving tech, and more! Then we will build some cool props from scratch, and wrap it all up with a tour of PPT’s facility. Bring your creative thinking cap!

Gay Kahkonen has been the head of PPT’s Properties Department for over 25 years, providing props for more than 150 productions to date. She is fond of saying that everything she needs to know to do her job she learned from 7th grade shop class and at her mother’s sewing machine.
