About this Performance

This program features a cascading chain reaction of inspiration. In their writing, Wagner inspired Strauss who inspired Elgar, where each composer drew from the dramatic and passionate style of the former.

Hear the otherworldly triumph in Wagner’s depiction of the Holy Grail descending, alongside Strauss' illustration of the visceral transition into death, and Elgar's showcase of the beauty of the Italian seaside.
