California fiber artist Kathy Nida creates fabric narratives by translating her dreams into artworks. Through her colorful quilts such as Earth Daughter, You Pollute Me, and All Stacked Up in My Head, Nida explores public issues such as women’s rights, politics, climate change, gun control, and other social topics through art. Many of these topics can be found in the six exhibiting artworks in this exhibition - Elemental Fiber. The artist mines her subconscious and conscious — good and bad memories— and reconciles them into quilts using fabric, beads, embroidery, paint, and pen.
Contemporary Craft’s BNY Mellon Satellite Gallery is located at 500 Grant St., Pittsburgh, PA 15219 (in the Lobby of the Steel Plaza T-Station at Oliver Street and Grant Street in downtown Pittsburgh). This exhibit is opened daily through midnight and is also free to the public.
