The Fort Pitt Museum and Point State Park invites homeschool students to participate in a series of in-depth classes related to the history and environment of the Forks of the Ohio River. Classes will be both hands-on and minds-on and include reading and writing activities, student led discussions, hiking, and outdoor observation.
This homeschool program is for students in grades 4-6.
FORT PITT 50
- Students will learn the history of the Fort Pitt Museum as a building, museum, and cultural institution and its involvement in the Pittsburgh Renaissance.
- Students will learn the basics of exhibit design, execution, and teamwork.
- Students will create small exhibits commemorating the Fort Pitt Museum’s 50th anniversary using provided materials.
REGISTRATION
This session costs $10 per student. Each class must be registered for individually online. Multiple students may be registered for the same class as part of one registration. Please register online.
This is a drop-off class, but parents and families are welcome to stay on site to visit the Fort Pitt Museum at no additional charge.
If the minimum number of students have not been registered, those registered for the class will be notified and registrations refunded. If and when the maximum number of students have been registered, please contact Kathleen Lugarich at kmlugarich@heinzhistorycenter.org to be placed on the waiting list and indicate the number of students and class.
