Join mayor Bill Peduto, and Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald in a celebration of Squash in Pittsburgh while watching the best players on the planet compete right here in the Steel City. There will be five days of world class play beginning Feb. 6 with the finals on Feb. 10. Free food & drinks will be available on Friday, Feb 8. This is one of the Top Ten professional squash tournaments in the U.S. At the same time and on the same courts, The Rivers Club will also host the largest annual amateur squash tournament in Pittsburgh, featuring ~100 players mainly from this region but also including players traveling from Toronto, Cleveland, New York and elsewhere. Squash is one of the fastest-growing (and fastest- playing) sports in the world, and it will be played at the highest level, featuring players from 15 different countries from Hong Kong to Egypt, at The 2019 Pittsburgh Open. The 2019 Pittsburgh Open is the last stop on the pro circuit before the World Championships in Chicago--which this year, for the first time, has a $1 million purse.
