Based on the 1953 novel by Conrad Richter, “The Light in the Forest” follows the struggles of Johnny Butler, also known as True Son amongst his Delaware Indian family, as he readjusts to living with his biological family and their neighbors following the French & Indian War and Pontiac’s Rebellion.
The fictional character of Johnny Butler represents one of thousands captured and adopted by American Indians during the 18th century.
