Immigration is a common story in Pittsburgh. Beechview is a neighborhood with a rich cultural mix. Nine of these immigration stories have been collected and are ready to share with Pittsburgh and beyond!

Join Sharing Our Story, Casa San Jose and the Beechview Historical Society for an evening of multicultural digital storytelling with stories created by longtime and new residents of Beechview.

Non-English speakers welcome! (Spanish translations available)

Sister Janice from Casa San Jose will lead a discussion about the videos and community. Musical performance by Latin band Gavas Beat.

Sharing Our Story, founded by Sally Rafson, is a project-based initiative working with organizations in Pittsburgh to bring together diverse communities through digital storytelling. Since founding in 2014, Sharing Our Story has engaged community members in the brainstorming, recording, and editing of their own personal documentaries. These documentaries, or “digital stories,” have been viewed and discussed by over 1100 community members and showcased in exhibits of the Westmoreland Museum of Art and the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh.
