Welcome, Neighbor! Dinners

Nov 11, 2017 - Nov 11, 2017

On Saturday, November 11th, hundreds of Pittsburghers will get together at dinner tables across the region to share a meal and get to know their neighbors better. The World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh inviting you to be among them.

Based on The World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh's 200 Dinners and other welcome dinners NEXTpittsburgh and Vibrant Pittsburgh have hosted the past few years, the Welcome, Neighbor! Dinner is a community-wide event to bring people together to discuss ways to make our region more welcoming. The World Affairs Council is joining this year to help make these dinners even more successful.

The World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh will supply some starter questions to spark your dinner conversation. And NEXTpittsburgh will report on your conversations based on your feedback, but the rest is up to you.

Here’s how to get involved:

You can host a dinner – whether it’s potluck, pizza or a full course meal — and invite your neighbors, especially those new to Pittsburgh or from a different background.

Or make a reservation at your favorite local restaurant and get together there. The point is simply to be more neighborly and create a more welcoming Pittsburgh.

Or you can join in one the community dinners we’ll be partnering with around town.

Can’t make it on the 11th? Feel free to host on the 10th or the 12th or whenever you can. Dinner, lunch, brunch, whatever — the focus is on getting together and enjoying lively conversation.
