Robot Petting Zoo Makeathon

Oct 14, 2017 - Oct 15, 2017 | 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Children's Museum of Pittsburgh
10 Children's Way
Pittsburgh, PA 15212

The Robot Petting Zoo (RPZ) & Makeathon engages students and educators in friendly making, coding, and design with a creative twist on the traditional hackathon. During an RPZ Makeathon, student groups create animatronic animals while learning empathic design thinking, teamwork, and engineering using cardboard, robotics kits, code, and craft supplies. They then bring their animals together for a Robot Petting Zoo Showcase where the public, and especially young children, can interact with them.

No coding/robotics experience necessary--Absolute beginners are welcome!

All electronics, laptops, and building materials & tools will be provided, and you are welcome to bring in any particularly appealing craft materials from home as well.

This workshop is geared towards 4th to 12th graders, but anyone with an interest in robotics is invited! For those 13 and under, please bring an adult with you - Adults do not need a separate admission. Registration is required.
