It’s been 15 years since Nora slammed the door on Torvald and began a new life of her own, and “A Doll’s House Part 2” brings back some of theater’s most iconic characters in a smart and snappy new story, now on stage at the Pittsburgh Public Theater through April 7.
One of my favorite parts of the show was the perfect melding of contemporary humor against the setting of the late 19th century; I can’t wait to go back again just for the quick back-and-forth moments that were some of the show’s funniest. Lisa Velten Smith delivers a masterful performance, and Helena Ruoti’s take on Anne Marie, the nanny, had me (and the audience) laughing out loud, while at the same time being moved by her struggles and tribulations.
Witty, touching, and smart, you don’t want to miss “A Doll’s House Part 2,” playing through April 7. And don’t worry: you won’t be missing anything if you’re unfamiliar with the original “A Doll’s House.”
Pro-tip: students and anyone 26 years old or younger can get discounted tickets with the code HOTTIX.
