Heinz History Center's 25th Annual History Makers Award Dinner

The annual black-tie benefit dinner, chaired by Donald J. Heberle, president of BNY Mellon of Pennsylvania, and Daniel K. Fitzpatrick, president and CEO, Citizens Bank for Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, and presented by BNY Mellon and Citizens Bank, honors outstanding men and women whose achievements, while rooted in Western Pa., transcend geographical bounds.

The 2017 History Makers Award Dinner honorees are:

  • Jerome Bettis (Sports) – former Pittsburgh Steelers running back, Super Bowl Champion and Pro Football Hall of Famer;
  • Dr. Vivian Davidson Hewitt (Education) – first African American librarian, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh; past president, Special Libraries Association;
  • Arthur S. Levine, MD (Healthcare) – senior vice chancellor for Health Sciences and dean of the School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh;
  • Dr. Priya Narasimhan (Technology & Innovation) – CEO and founder, YinzCam; professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Carnegie Mellon University; and
  • David Newell (Community) – actor who portrayed the role of Mr. McFeely on “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”
