As we enter the middle of winter, the confluence of Pittsburgh’s rivers becomes a hot spot for waterfowl and gulls seeking open waters. Ice flows from the colder Allegheny River provide roosting opportunities for many species, and the open valleys allow extensive line of site to spot flocks of crows as they move toward their evening roosts. Point State Park provides excellent access for birders of all skill levels to enjoy the phenomena of winter birding on our rivers. Meet Jack and Stephen at the entrance of the Fort Pitt Museum. Binoculars will be available to borrow.
