Celebrating 35 Years of the Italian American Program

This special program will honor more than three decades of preserving and sharing the stories of Western Pennsylvania’s Italian American community.

The evening will feature a conversation with Melissa E. Marinaro, director of the Italian American Program, and distinguished guests, including the program’s first coordinator Cathy Cerrone Fratto and former Chairs of the Italian American Advisory Council, Peter Argentine and Dr. Lina Insana. The discussion will be moderated by Anne Madarasz, chief historian and director of the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum.

Admission

This program is free with advance registration and will take place in the museum’s fifth floor Mueller Center.

Doors and cocktail bar open at 6 p.m.

About the Italian American Program

Founded in 1990, the Italian American Program is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history and culture of Italian Americans in Western Pennsylvania through exhibitions, educational programs, publications, and community outreach. The Italian American Collection is one of the largest repositories of Italian American artifacts, photographs, oral histories, and archival materials in the United States. For more than three decades, it has documented the pivotal role Italian Americans play in shaping the region’s political, economic, religious, and cultural landscapes.
