Join Jeff and Colleen Shirey, founders of Salsa Pittsburgh, as they bring their lively salsa classes and open-floor dancing back to the Greer Cabaret Theater. Starting at 7:30 p.m., enjoy a 30-minute beginner-friendly salsa dance lesson, followed by three hours of open dance to practice your moves and socialize. Want a break? The Greer Lounge will be open for you to relax, grab a drink, and order something to eat before heading back to dance.
Jeff and Colleen discovered salsa nearly 30 years ago at a Pittsburgh nightclub, and they've been passionate about Latin music and dance ever since. What began as a hobby quickly became a second career—they founded Salsa Pittsburgh, teaching group and private lessons, DJing, and organizing salsa events. They also teach weekly salsa and bachata classes at the Wightman School Community Building in Squirrel Hill, guiding both beginners and intermediate dancers through progressive six-week cycles.
Jeff and Colleen hosted Salsa Fridays at the Greer Cabaret Theater for over 11 years, a beloved Pittsburgh Cultural Trust event, which we are happy to be reviving in this new format. They've also organized more than 30 large-scale salsa workshops, featuring international salsa professionals and world champions. Now retired high school teachers, Jeff and Colleen are excited to share their love of Latin music and dance with new generations of dancers of all ages in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
