Cocktails & Conversations: Wars of Empire & Liberty

Jun 20, 2024 - Jun 20, 2024 | 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Heinz History Center
1212 Smallman St
Pittsburgh, PA 15222

Explore Revolutionary War history with History Center President and CEO Andy Masich.

Join us for an evening filled with delicious drinks and lesser-known stories about Western Pennsylvania’s impact on the French & Indian War and the American Revolution, as told in the History Center’s Wars of Empire and Liberty exhibition.

Masich will be joined by Fort Pitt Museum Assistant Director Mike Burke to delve into history of the American Revolution, from its roots in Western Pa. to its last great contest at the Siege of Yorktown in 1781.

The talk will highlight select works from the exhibition and cover topics such as George Washington’s rise to prominence, Native peoples’ involvement in both conflicts, and how loyal British subjects chose to rebel against their king in 1776.

Attendees are welcome to enjoy a drink at the cash bar during the conversation and Q&A session.

This program is part of Civic Season, presented in partnership with Smithsonian and the History Made By Us national coalition, and the History Center initiative, America 101.

America 101 engages the public to learn American history through public programs, special exhibitions, digital learning tools, and educational curriculum.

America 101 is supported by Nimick Forbesway Foundation.
