Guided Tour: Pittsburgh’s Treasures from Glass to Heinz

Museum docents will lead a special guided tour through the Glass: Shattering Notions and Heinz exhibitions.

Visitors can learn about fascinating stories of Pittsburgh history and enhance your museum experience on the tour “Pittsburgh’s Treasures from Glass to Heinz” at the History Center on Jan. 7.

  • They will discover the complex 200-plus year history of this region’s first industry, glass, in Glass: Shattering Notions, an immersive experience of more than 500 glass objects.
  • In Heinz, they will learn how eight-year-old Henry John Heinz went from selling produce from his mother’s garden in Sharpsburg to growing a worldwide company with more than 5,700 products in 200 countries around the globe.

Visitors must sign up for Guided Tours at the admissions desk prior to each tour. The tours are included with regular museum admission and will be capped at 25 attendees.
