Rossini’s thrilling “William Tell” Overture has long captivated as the theme to “The Lone Ranger.” Then, members of the wind section present the world premiere of David Ludwig’s Concerto for Two Clarinets and Two Bassoons. A tour-de-force for four soloists! Grandson of the great pianist Rudolf Serkin, Ludwig is “a composer with something urgent to say,” declares The New York Times. This program concludes with Richard Strauss’ glowing self-portrait, “Ein Heldenleben” – “A Hero’s Life.”
