Mendelssohn’s serene Third Symphony was inspired by his Scottish highland holiday. Acclaimed conductor Osmo Vanska leads this, plus Beethoven’s heroic “Egmont” Overture. And the Orchestra’s Lorna McGhee plays the Pittsburgh Symphony premiere of “Wing of the Dream” by Kaija Sarriaho, her widely-praised Concerto for Flute and Orchestra.
