This 2021 spring AWCommunity Day celebrates August Wilson’s 76th birthday in collaboration with August Wilson Society and Howard University. The program includes a performance by Balafon West African Dance Ensemble, a poetic monologue reading by a Youth Writers Camp scholar and a DIY home gardening demonstration by Soil Sisters Plant Nursery. AWCommunity Day incorporates 3 elements of the Hill Districts featuring a community tour with Chris Rawson, a conversation with Denise Turner, Executive Director of the August Wilson House, and a spotlight of Grandma B’s with chef and owner, Dorian Moorefield.
