From home entertainment and food preparation to energy-saving thermostats that “learn” your family’s household patterns, this is the place to see it first! Diverse businesses gather to show how your home can be specially built using the latest advances. This area is fully interactive – and lots of fun!
Cutting edge technology meets culinary flair in this spectacular concept kitchen. Show visitors will stroll into a stunning collection of the latest kitchen applications – multiple cooktops, ovens, refrigerators and more – all powered and operating. Popular local chefs provide tips and tastings, while putting all of this new equipment to the test. Much more than simply seeing the next level of new kitchens, visitors will experience how these new devices work – and taste the results!
Homeowners in Western Pennsylvania have always been avid gardeners, whether they are tending a tiny backyard or a swath of rolling countryside. New at the 2016 Home & Garden Show is one of central area where everyone from beginner to Master Gardener will find the answers, help, and advice they need. Created by the horticultural programs at Bidwell Center, and drawing together garden and plant societies from across the region, this is the one-stop solution to every question.
More than ten acres of home and garden products and services will fill the Pittsburgh Convention Center for ten days in March. Once each year this is the region’s most trusted marketplace: where homeowners see what’s new, shop nearly 1700 exhibits. and get solid advice from thousands of helpful experts.
Transforming the Convention Center’s first level is The Garden Pavilion, with lush landscape gardens, rushing waterfalls, and fragrant flowers in full bloom. Hundreds of exhibits offer everything for the lawn, garden and patio – from decks and sunrooms to garden tractors and swimming pools.
In the Garden Pavilion all 10 days, folks who are nurturing their green thumb will meet celebrity gardener Don Engebretson, “The Renegade Gardener.” One of America’s best known gardening authors, Engebretson will be on hand for presentations and advice throughout the Show. His humorous appearances on HGTV and PBS reveal the joy of gardening. And his advice is tailored to the needs of tri-state are gardening buffs.
Also in the Garden Pavilion is The Ultimate Backyard with great prizes for outdoor living, and Pets At Home with everything for those other occupants of the home. Visitors can also meet cats, dogs, fish and birds who are looking for a new best friend.
In the Construction & Remodeling Center, hundreds of exhibits offer comparison shopping for windows, doors, siding, insulation, heating, and everything from foundations to roofs, a new closet to an entire new house. Duquesne Light’s Electric Lane is an exciting and fun way to learn how to save money on energy, and stay safe at home both inside and out.
The Kitchen & Cooking Collection will cover more than an acre – the region’s largest gathering of cabinets, appliances, accessories, counter surfaces, foods, wines and other delicious taste testing. Hundreds of kitchens and cooking exhibits are among the most popular attractions, all at the region’s most trusted marketplace for home and garden shopping. The finest kitchen designers in the region offer ideas and advice, alongside examples of their award-winning work. And The Pennsylvania Food & Wine Festival makes for tasty shopping with casual sampling from dozens of food purveyors.
In the Home Interior Galleries, more that three hundred firms will show visitors exciting new ways to transform every space in their home. Furniture, accessories, lighting, artwork, and coverings for the floor, walls and windows are joined by skilled craftsmen, expert artisans, and design professionals who are glad to explain the latest trends. At Designer Showcase homeowners can step right into the showrooms of the regions most honored interior designers. At Ask-A-Designer, bring you photos, sketches, or color swatches and have a seat for a free fifteen minute consultation. And Design Trends 2016 bring the latest hot ideas from around the globe right into the Convention Center
The Crawford Grill again will present live jazz at the Home & Garden Show, with students from Pittsburgh’s CAPA School, right next to the Convention Center, providing nightly entertainment.
In the Children’s Village at the Show, Shady Lane School will host an environment for children and their parents to enjoy together. The Train Collectors’ Kids Club will once again be featured, with dozens of toy trains chugging merrily through charming miniature towns and villages. And the ever-popular Turtle Races return for kids of all ages.
The River View Café is among more than a dozen dining options at the Show, ranging from a quick bite to a sit-down meal.
