Honeck Conducts Mozart and Schubert

Nov 3, 2017 - Nov 5, 2017
Heinz Hall
600 Penn Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA 15222
Experience “the Pittsburgh Sound” with a program of Viennese classics conducted by music director Manfred Honeck! Mozart’s Concerto in C major for Flute, Harp and Orchestra – a piece that hasn’t been performed by the Pittsburgh Symphony since 1984 – features PSO Principal Flute Lorna McGhee and PSO Harpist Gretchen Van Hoesen as soloists. Schubert’s “Great” C Major Symphony completes the program, an exultant and celebratory work that represents Schubert at his most aspirational. From its first triumphant horn call to the spirited finale, this work stands at the pinnacle of a young romantic composer carrying the torch that Beethoven had lit.

Run Time: This performance will last approximately 1 hour and 55 minutes.
