Resounding Sound by Texture Contemporary Ballet

Jul 20, 2017 - Jul 23, 2017
New Hazlett Theater
6 Allegheny Square East
Pittsburgh, PA 15212

Texture kicks off its seventh season with high energy and stimulating music in Resounding Sound, July 20 -23 at the New Hazlett Theater. Promising to bring vibrant dancing to the stage set to an array of contemporary and moving musical selections, this is one show you will not want to miss!

Resounding Sound will include a new ballet choreographed by Associate Artistic Director Kelsey Bartman to the music of legendary icon Bob Dylan. Sacramento-based musicians, Justin Keim and Vinny Randazzo, will be playing renditions of select songs, including “Subterranean Homesick Blues” and “Just Like A Woman.” Artistic Director Alan Obuzor also brings a new ballet, bringing back to the stage Pittsburgh-based band, Meeting of Important People (MOIP). After playing live for Texture back in 2013, the group is back to play selections from their latest album, Troika, which was released in February of 2016. Come hear MOIP rock the New Hazlett once again as the dancers bring their music to life.

Along with these new ballets, other works from Texture’s extensive repertoire will make a triumphant return to the stage. Two pas de deuxs will be danced, Lacrimosa and Reminiscence, as well as the light and fun trio Ice Ice. A solo piece, Song for Viola and group work Allowing at Most, a Caryatid will also be danced.

Tickets are $30 at the door, $25 in advance, $20 for seniors/students/artists. For information about group sales email marjorie@textureballet.org.
