Carnegie Science Center is hosting a Navy Day with special events and activities on Thursday, June 22. Members of the Navy's elite EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) Team will demonstrate state-of-the-art robotic technology used to defuse mock explosive devices.
Visitors will be invited to try on a bomb suit or dive helmet at the EOD Exhibit. Visitors will be able to control a remotely operated vehicle, or ROV, as part of the Office of Naval Research SeaPerch program, the ROV is part of an ONR-sponsored educational program designed to promote science, technology, engineering and math interest among students, sixth grade and up. Officers and Crew members from the USS Pittsburgh (SSN-720) submarine will also be onboard USS Requin (SS-481) Submarine to speak with visitors during the day.
