Veteran of the Count Basie Orchestra, Dr. Nelson Harrison is a musician, composer and avid jazz historian. Harrison has played with Kenny Clarke, Billy Eckstine, Earl “Fatha” Hines, Jay McShann, Slide Hampton and recorded with Walt Harper and Nathan Davis. He has composed more than 400 original compositions, including movie scores and soundtracks. Dr. Harrison invented the instrument, the Trombetto, has written many articles on Pittsburgh’s jazz history and is currently writing a book. READ MORE
