Rally & EQT Equality March
Jun 10, 2018 - Jun 10, 2018 | 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
In the early morning hours of June 28, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn in Nyc, a series of violent demonstrations, led by the trans community, took place. Today, the Stonewall Riots are widely considered to be the single most important event leading to the gay liberation movement and the modern fight for LGBT rights Join us for two events as we remember those who paved the way, recognize how far we’ve come, and rally together as we continue our quest for true equality for all.
The Rally will reconnect us with the roots of our struggle and elevate the LGBT community, advocate for our causes, and rally to show our strength. The Rally will take place on the Blvd. of the Allies at Noon. Everyone is welcome!
Then, join us as we march through the streets of downtown Pittsburgh in solidarity using our voices to ensure that every member of our community–including those who are the most marginalized–are acknowledged, included, and treated with dignity and respect.
The EQT Equality March will include floats, marching contingents and a few surprises. Be a part of it or watch as people proudly show who the LGBT community is in Pittsburgh.
The staging for the march will take place on the Blvd. of the Allies between Grant Street & Stanwix starting at 10 AM. The march route will turn left onto Grant Street, left onto Fifth Avenue, and proceed straight down Fifth to Liberty Avenue and the entrance to PrideFest. We have a record number of contingents participating this year & registration is still available at PittsburghPride.org/register The march line-up will be emailed & posted here in a few weeks.
