Introducing the Downtown Pittsburgh EDGE program!
The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership invites your business to participate in a new program that rolls out the welcome mat for workers returning to Downtown. The goal of the Downtown Pittsburgh EDGE program is to engage returning commuters with Downtown businesses through special deals, discounts, or offerings that you decide upon. This increase in foot traffic is expected to boost sales for participating businesses – while providing a much-desired sense of normalcy, re-engagement, and vibrancy, back to Downtown.
What businesses can participate?
Every Downtown business – from restaurants and retailers to hair salons, jewelers, and gyms – is invited to participate. If commuters are your customers, then this program is for you. You will receive a special window (or register) decal to inform customers that your business is participating in the program.
What do I have to do to participate?
Simply provide a special deal, discount, or offer that can motivate workers to visit your business. You can choose from one of our suggested options – or come up with one of your own!
How do I participate?
Fill out the form and outline the special deal or discount that you plan to offer returning workers. You’ll be able to identify them through the special EDGE card that they will show physically or via a graphic on their smartphone.
Create your own deal/offering, or select from a variety of suggestions provided – whatever works for your business! There will be an online toolkit with information about how the program works, ways to promote your business’s involvement in the program, and ways to keep frontline staff informed about your business’ special offerings.
What is the timing?
The program is now live! Cards are being distributed at pop-up PDP events, but are available to you if you’d like to distribute at your storefront.
Why should my business participate?
Your business will benefit from a comprehensive marketing campaign that is designed to help bring vibrancy back to Downtown. The PDP will execute a strategy that includes digital and print advertising as well as social influencer promotion. Special EDGE Card deal offerings will be promoted as part of the concerted marketing push.
What kind of deals should my business offer?
The deals are up to you! Here are just some examples of potential offers to consider:
- 10% off all purchases/services
- Complimentary glass of house wine or complimentary signature cocktail with the purchase of food
- $2 off all lunchtime purchases over $10
- 20% off the bill between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday
- First fitness class free, followed by 10% off all additional classes

You can elect the time frame (expiration) for your deal/special offer and can update it monthly or discontinue it whenever you choose by contacting edgecard@downtownpittsburgh.com.

The VIP cards will be distributed to employers throughout the Golden Triangle through PDP outreach with community stakeholders.
