Route 28 Daylight Ramp Restrictions Next Week in Allegheny County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing restrictions on various Route 28 ramps in Allegheny County will occur Tuesday through Friday, January 20-23 weather permitting.

To allow crews to conduct sign installation work, the following ramps will have shoulder restrictions from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day:

Southbound Route 28

  • Southbound Route 28 off-ramp to I-279 North/East Ohio Street (Exit 1B)
  • Southbound Route 28 off-ramp to 31st Street Bridge/Strip District (Exit 2)
  • Southbound Route 28 off-ramp to Millvale (Exit 3B)
  • Southbound Route 28 off-ramp to Highland Park Bridge/Aspinwall (Exit 6)
  • Southbound Route 28 off-ramp to Fox Chapel Road (Exit 8)
  • Southbound Route 28 off-ramp to RIDC Park (Exit 10)

Northbound Route 28

  • Northbound Route 28 left-hand off-ramp to 40th Street Bridge/Lawrenceville (Exit 3A)
  • Northbound Route 28 off-ramp to Millvale (Exit 3B)
  • Northbound Route 28 left-hand off-ramp to Etna (Exit 4)
  • Northbound Route 28 to Route 8 South towards RD Fleming Bridge/Sharpsburg (Exit 5A)
  • Northbound Route 28 off-ramp to Highland Park Bridge/Aspinwall (Exit 6)
  • Northbound Route 28 off-ramp to Fox Chapel Road/Waterworks Drive/Freeport Road (Exit 8)
  • Northbound Route 28 off-ramp to Blawnox (Exit 9)
  • Northbound Route 28 off-ramp to RIDC Park (Exit 10)

Southbound I-579 Overnight Inspection Activities this Weekend in Pittsburgh

PennDOT District 11 is announcing bridge inspection activities on the southbound I-579 “Cap” Urban Connector in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County will occur Friday night, January 16 and Sunday night, January 18 weather permitting.

Inspection activities will occur on the “Cap” Urban Connector requiring a southbound I-579 lane restriction between the Bigelow Boulevard and Centre Avenue overpasses from 9:00 PM Friday night through 5:00 AM Saturday morning. Additionally, the following ramps will be closed and detoured while the inspection work occurs:

  • Southbound Bedford Avenue ramp to southbound I-579
  • Seventh Avenue ramp to southbound I-579

Additionally, a southbound I-579 lane restriction will occur in the same location from 9:00 PM Sunday night through 5:00 AM Monday morning. The above listed ramps will remain open during this inspection work.

Northbound I-279 Parkway North Restrictions Start Monday in Ross Township

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing lane and shoulder restrictions on northbound Interstate 279 (Parkway North) in Ross Township, Allegheny County, will begin Monday, January 12 weather permitting.

Single-lane and shoulder restrictions will occur on northbound I-279 at the Jacks Run Road Bridge located between Cemetery Lane and Bellevue Road. Restrictions will occur daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM through Friday, January 16.


Interstate 79 Single-lane Restrictions Wednesday in Allegheny County

PennDOT District 11 is announcing single-lane restrictions on Interstate 79 in Robinson and Kennedy townships, Allegheny County will occur Wednesday, January 7 weather permitting.

Single-lane restrictions will occur in both directions of I-79 between the I-376 Airport/Pittsburgh (Exit 59 A/B) interchange and approximately one-half mile north of the Route 60 Moon Run/Crafton (Exit 60 A/B) interchanges from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Wednesday to allow crews to conduct pothole patching.  

Work may occur Thursday. Additional information will be provided in advance of any work.


Northbound Interstate 79 Lane Restriction Tuesday Night in Franklin Park

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing a single-lane restriction on northbound Interstate 79 in Franklin Park Borough, Allegheny County will occur Tuesday night, January 6 weather permitting.

There will be a single-lane restriction from 7:00 PM Tuesday night to 5:00 AM Wednesday morning on northbound I-79 near the off-ramp to Route 910/Wexford (Exit 73) for barrier repair work.  


Route 28 Shoulder Restrictions Tuesday, Wednesday in Allegheny County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing shoulder restrictions on Route 28 in O’Hara Township and Sharpsburg Borough, Allegheny County will occur Tuesday and Wednesday, December 16-17 weather permitting.

Shoulder restrictions will occur in both directions of Route 28 at the Highland Park Bridge/Aspinwall (Exit 6) interchange each day from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Tuesday and Wednesday as crews conduct ITS maintenance work.


Southbound Route 65 Ramp to I-279 Overnight Closures Next Week in Pittsburgh

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing the closure of the ramp from southbound Route 65 (Ohio River Boulevard) to I-279 (Parkway North) in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County will occur Tuesday through Friday nights, December 16-19 weather permitting.

The ramp that carries traffic from southbound Route 65 to northbound I-279 (Parkway North) will close to traffic nightly from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM each night to allow crews to conduct bridge deck and barrier repair work. Ramp traffic will be detoured.

  • From southbound Route 65, continue onto the Fort Duquesne Bridge
  • Continue to the Fort Pitt Bridge (I-376)
  • Continue through the Fort Pitt Tunnel onto westbound I-376 (Parkway West)
  • Take the 19 South (Exit 69A) off-ramp toward Banksville Road
  • Bear left toward South Truck 19/51 Uniontown
  • Stay left to East 376/South 51
  • Merge onto eastbound (inbound) I-376 (Parkway West)
  • Continue through the Fort Pitt Tunnel
  • Cross the Fort Pitt Bridge
  • Take the left-hand off-ramp to 279 North (Exit 70C) toward the North Shore
  • Follow to the Fort Duquesne Bridge
  • Stay in the right-hand lanes to the ramp to 28/279 North
  • End detour
