Jan 10, 2019 - Jan 10, 2019 | 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Heinz History Center
1212 Smallman St.
Pittsburgh, PA 15222

Whether or not you were able to snag tickets for the musical’s run in the Steel City, join the Heinz History Center and historian Richard Bell as we dissect the musical phenomenon to reveal what its success tells us about the marriage of history and show biz.

Dr. Bell will showcase what this popular production gets right – and wrong – about Alexander Hamilton, the American Revolution, and the birth of the United States, and why it all matters. Examine creative choices “Hamilton” creators made to simplify, dramatize, and humanize the complicated events and stories on which the show is based. Explore the musical’s cultural impact and what its runaway success reveals, highlighted with clips from the PBS documentary about the musical.

Please note that this program will include strong language and adult themes. Parental discretion is advised for those with children under the age of 14.

Admission to the program is $18 for adults and $9 for kids 17 and under, which includes admission to all History Center exhibitions including Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission.
