Out and About: Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream

Monday, August 14, 2017

I’ve been a longtime fan of Millie’s since friends took me to the flagship store in Shadyside. Their innovative flavors, cheery scoop shop decor, and friendly service are the essential ingredients for the perfect ice cream shop experience. Last week, a few people in the office took a field trip to Millie’s new Downtown location just off Market Square at 246 Forbes Avenue.

We sampled flavors including salted caramel, cherry pie, szechuan roasted peach, and my new favorite: blueberry, lime curd, and graham cracker. I also picked up a pint of the peach, balsamic, and black pepper sorbet to take home. Everything was incredibly refreshing on a hot day. Bonus: Millie’s prides themselves on using locally sourced, in-season ingredients, and they make everything in-house!

I have a feeling we’ll be going on many more field trips; I highly recommend you do the same. Check out what flavors Millie’s is currently scooping at each location here!
