Road Closures
The Pittsburgh Great Race closes Downtown Streets this Sunday 9/27
From 5:30 to 11:00 am on 9/27, the following downtown streets will be closed for the Great Race:
- Blvd. of the Allies – Uptown to Wood St.
- Wood St. – Blvd. of the Allies to Ft. Pitt Blvd.
- Ft. Pitt Blvd. – Wood St. to Commonwealth Pl.
- Commonwealth Pl. – Ft. Pitt Blvd. to Penn Ave.
- Penn Ave. – Commonwealth Pl. to Stanwix St.
Additionally, the Roberto Clemente Bridge will be closed on Saturday, 9/26 from 9 to 11 am.

Closures for Oktoberfest Pittsburgh take place between 9/28 and 10/14
The Roberto Clemente (6th St) Bridge will be closed beginning at 9 am on Monday 9/28 and lasting until 4 pm on Wednesday October 14.Â
The Market Square roadway will also be closed from McMasters Way to Forbes Avenue (west). A portion of the roadway will remain open between Forbes Ave. (east) and McMasters Way. Market Square closures will take place on Fridays (10/2 and 10/9) from 4 to 11 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays (10/3, 10/4, 10/10, and 10/11) from 9 am to 11 pm.

Smithfield Street Reconstruction closure in place until 2028
Smithfield Street will be closed to traffic between Oliver St. and Fifth Ave. beginning on 9/21. Construction will eventually move to the block between Fifth Ave. and Forbes Ave., and finish with the block between Oliver St. and Sixth Ave. Each phase will take between 6-9 months to complete.
During this time, northbound traffic will be detoured, and PRT buses with stops on Smithfield St. will be detoured to temporary stops on Wood St. at Sixth Ave. and Third Ave. Pedestrian access to all businesses will be maintained during construction.
