Peer Gynt

Mar 22, 2019 - Mar 24, 2019
Heinz Hall
600 Penn Ave
Pittsburgh, PA 15222

Colorful musical stories come alive on the Heinz Hall stage as Manfred Honeck leads his own original arrangement of the timeless music of Peer Gynt.  From the humble peasant village to the troll-infested mountains of Norway, follow Peer Gynt’s exploits and adventures as told through the vivid musical language of Edvard Grieg.  Lithuanian violinist Julian Rachlin, described by the LA Times as “the real thing, a true virtuoso with heart and a champion’s bearing,” returns to perform Mendelssohn’s beloved Violin Concerto.  Rachmaninoff’s Caprice bohemian, a flavorful “Fantasy on Gypsy Themes” leaps to life in the PSO’s first-ever live performance.
