The Cookie Table: Teaching Ethnic History Through Foodways

This is an Act 48 Teacher Professional Development program that will explore Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania’s immigrant history during the turn of the 20th century. Exploring the post-reconstruction and industrialization in our area and across America, food is a big way in which people connect with their culture. The infamous Pittsburgh Cookie Table is one of these ways educators can explore the complex history of immigration and labor history in the classroom. This program is open to all educators. Event will have light refreshments for participants.
