Join the History Center’s educators, archivists, and curators to learn more about the history of political cartoons, what we can learn from investigating them, and how they can be used with students in the classroom. This program will cover political cartoons that depict important historical events in American history and will dive into the work of local cartoonist, Tim Menees, and the subjects he covered during his career. Teachers will receive examples of cartoons to use in their teaching as well as additional resources and strategies for using cartoons as sources for students to gain insight into historical events.
This program is offered in connection with the American Democracy: A Great Leap of Faith exhibit that is currently on display at the Heinz History Center.
This program will take place via Zoom with short breaks between segments.
