The August Wilson African American Cultural Center is happy to bring back Hip-Hop Camp: “Go DJ” (Serato Basics) with educator, Lex Gonzales. The purpose of this camp will be to educate students on the basics of beat matching, mixing, sampling, cataloging, and creating song collections “crates”, all while learning how to DJ on Serato DJ software. The two sessions will take place on February 12th and February 26th. Both sessions will take place virtually on Zoom and students will be emailed the Zoom link 3 days prior to each session. All students must have access to a computer and must download the Serato DJ software to their computer. At the end of the camp, students will be able to participate in a virtual performance on March 5th to show what they have learned. Each student will also receive a AWAACC swag bag. The class is designed for students from 10 to 18 years old and class size will be limited to ensure all students receive the instruction to achieve their goals.
