Early kickoff invites visitors to sample pickle-inspired creations from 14 Downtown businesses, extending the festival’s economic impact across the city.
Get ready for more “dill-lightful” moments as Downtown Pittsburgh relishes an early taste of one of its most anticipated summer traditions.
The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) today announced the return of ‘A Taste of Picklesburgh’, launching July 9 and running throughout the 11th Anniversary of Picklesburgh (July 16–19). The event welcomes thirteen Downtown restaurants and one retailer, each offering inventive, pickle-inspired specials that bring some briny bravado and gherkin glee back to the Golden Triangle.
Designed as a pickle-infused preview to the main event, A Taste of Picklesburgh expands the festival footprint beyond its usual core -driving foot traffic, supporting small businesses, and giving visitors more reasons to explore the neighborhood before and during the four-day celebration.
“Picklesburgh has evolved into more than a festival; it’s become a powerful economic engine for Downtown,” said Jeremy Waldrup, President & CEO of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership. “What’s exciting about Taste of Picklesburgh is how it spreads that energy throughout the neighborhood. You are seeing downtown business owners find unique and creative ways to tap into the moment and turn it into real opportunity.”
A Growing Economic Force
Over the past decade, Picklesburgh has scaled into a nationally recognized event, drawing more than 200,000 attendees last year—an increase of over 1,000% since its debut in 2015. According to VisitPITTSBURGH, the 2025 festival generated about $20 million in direct visitor spending across lodging, dining, transportation, and retail, along with just under $1 million in sales tax revenue.
A Taste of Picklesburgh builds on that momentum by encouraging earlier and broader engagement with Downtown businesses—turning a long weekend into a multi-day economic driver.
“We are so excited to be included in this year’s Taste of Picklesburgh line-up,” says Nathan Bryner, owner of Cocky’s Coop. “Since opening in Market Square this past March, we have been looking for even more ways to attract Downtown visitors, and our inclusion in this event will directly support those efforts. Our specialty items include the Cocky’s Big Dill chicken sandwich, chicken wings with house-made dill pickle ranch, and fried pickles!”
A Citywide Flavor
In addition to Cocky’s Coop, this year’s lineup features a wide range of Downtown favorites, including Alta Via Market Square, City Works Eatery & Pour House, Howl at the Moon, Las Velas, Olive or Twist, Original Oyster House, Pizzaiolo Primo, Primanti Bros, Redbeard’s, Revel, Space Bar, and Spritzery, alongside specialty retailer Heinz Healey’s offering limited-time pickle-inspired apparel. Food menu highlights include pickle fried chicken, pickle wings, pickle and pork sandwiches, fried pickles, pickle tacos, and more. Pair those delicious bites with a Dill-licious Pickle Martini, Spicy Pickle Rita, The Brine Directive, Pickleback cocktails, pickle lemonade, and more.
As an added incentive, guests who purchase featured items will receive a free Heinz Pickle Pin, while supplies last.
